Label the Science Diagram
Four classic primary science diagrams with numbered pointers: parts of a plant, the water cycle, the life cycle of a butterfly and the solar system. Choose a diagram, print the labelling sheet with an optional word bank, and keep the answer page for marking.
The diagram
Each one comes with an answers page for the grown-up.
The sheet
Leave it blank and the sheet prints a line to write on.

Parts of a Plant
AnswersEach number and what it is.
Labelling a diagram is one of the most common tasks in primary science, and one of the quickest ways to find out what a child knows. If they can name the stem, the roots and the leaves, and say what each does, they have the idea. This tool gives you four of the diagrams that come up most: the parts of a plant, the water cycle, the life cycle of a butterfly and the solar system, each with numbered pointers and a matching answer page.
Using it for teaching and for checking
With the word bank on, a child matches the names to the numbers, which is a good first pass after a lesson. With it off, the child has to recall the names, which is a better check a week later.
The answer page repeats the diagram with the names filled in, so you can mark quickly or let an older child check their own work.
The four diagrams
The plant shows roots, stem, leaf, flower and fruit or seed. The water cycle shows evaporation, condensation, precipitation and collection. The butterfly life cycle goes from egg to caterpillar to chrysalis to adult. The solar system lists the Sun and the eight planets in order outward.
